Make the most of emoji in your community

Emoji are a fun and simple way to express emotions in a conversation. They can convey support and be used to gather feedback from your community members. Here are some best practices on how some communities are leveraging emoji.

Foster a common language

Emoji are a great way for people to quickly and visually respond to a message. It helps for a community to have a shared set of emoji that are commonly understood by its members – this way emoji responses can be clear and effective. For instance, below are some common emoji we’ve seen across workspaces:

“thank you”
“nice job”
“good idea”
“nailed it”

Use emoji for tagging and polling

Emoji can be used as a quick and tactical way to poll community members. Below are a few examples of how this can be done:
